This photo is of the big train wreck in Geneseo in 1898 (or 1899). No one was killed, but many were injured. It happened at the east edge of Geneseo. There was no hospital in town yet, so cots were set up in the Geneseo Hotel, where volunteer help remained up all night to care for the injured.

This photo is of a home built in 1879 by John Goss, a long-time lumber dealer. At the time of this photo the property was owned by William Rink which stands on the corner lot at South Center and Main Street. Once called Pioneer corner, it faces the city park. The home is still there.

Turning north off Ogden Avenue and State we see this fine old red brick home on the corner near the High School. The picket fence is gone, but descendants of this same family lived here for many years. This photo is of Alexander Walker, his wife Susan and daughter Helen, who married James Ogden, and their children Stuart and J Cheston.
